Educational DesignI have been fortunate to work with some leading educational and edutainment organizations creating quality educational products. Reflecting for educational products as well as creating them is a challenging process an involves both research and time. Taking a concept that comes from hard core research in education and converting it into a usable, exciting and thoughtful design makes designing for educational products a thoroughly enjoyable task.
As an educator, I bring perspectives from the classroom, student ideas, reflections from teachers, conversations with school leaders, and couple them with my research into learning for deeper understanding, indigenous learning models and educating for thoughtful and holistic intelligence. As a designer, creating the twist that will transform the product from an academic one, into an engaging experience thrills me. Apart from working on finished products, I also work on curriculum and content, instructional design and training models. Educational design as a field is still growing in India and the need for training designers to think in the field of education and educators to think in the field of design is still grossly underestimated. Some of the key challenges of working in the area of educational design in a country like India are to keep in mind the diversity, the economic challenges of creating products and low literacy levels. To get an in depth perspective, you can read my paper: The Tree of Life: Educational Design:
Making learning a thoughtful, fun and lifelong journey Rethink Redesign: Towards Socially Responsible Design. International conference organized by Stella Maris College & Lalit Kala Academy
